Welcome to our first blog!
I am so excited to chat with you all and network as we grow this movement. Parent Promise is a non profit organization that supports, educates and instills hope of building incredible families. We all know it takes a village to raise these babies. So we will start forming that village and exploring many areas of parenting. To determine what it really takes to balance parenting, business, work and overall mental health. So chime in as we discuss and even leave suggestions.
THIS IS A RAW AND OPEN FORUM.
Please be kind and respectful to each others differences in opinions as well as parenting styles.
Question to explore: How do you balance life, work, and parenting?
In today's society it is a must that we have some sort of balance when it comes to maintaining our mental health. Whether that be through coping skills, companionship, family support we must create a level of balance. On top of all this we must remember why the balance is so important to us as well as the little people we get the privilege's of raising and instilling personality and character into.
The key factor here is that we are role modeling behavior, work ethic, characteristics and the list goes on. What you do everyday matters to the little lives that are being created from your example. So I'll take the time to explore how I balance us all and keep a cool head! Chime in as I enjoy learning other styles of balance and creative ways that other parents approach this journey we call parenting.
As a mother of two young girls I always find myself filled with energy and attitude. Depending on the day this can be positive or negative, let's be honest kids can definitely take it there! Most days are positive though as I am very purposeful when it comes to how I role model in my children's daily lives.
The energy is everything when it comes to these two! They keep me on my toes, especially that second child! However, I direct a lot of our energy towards the positive as I believe that is what will ultimately structure and define their character. Along with that I make sure that of my energy does become negative towards them it is explained. Not to explain myself, because I am the adult and the authority. Instead, to demonstrate the balance in my character and ability to be accountable. This is very vital to development in any person at every age! You'll learn more about this in my upcoming book titled Foundation, coming April 2021.
The attitude that must come with my daily approach honestly differs and I'll tell you why! I am a product of a single parent household, so independence had been instilled in me from the very beginning. As I am exploring parenting I am learning that attitude is a blessing and a curse, imagine two versions of my attitudes from two different personalities. If you know me personally you understand! If not, I explain.
I am a very strong minded individual that like things her way. Imagine a developing six year old and two year old being the same way. Definitely a daily challenge for me and honestly one of the best parts I enjoy about parenting these two. I am realizing that I am raising two young ladies who will not only approach the world in this manner, but also their dreams. And I have to say, I can't wait to see what they become out of it. As I challenge them and they challenge me along the way I will always remember to ensure respect and integrity along the way.
So here are my ways that I balance it all,
Positive perspective. No the world is not all sunshine and unicorns, but I challenge myself and my girls to find the lesson and/or positivity in the things that may challenge us. This can transform a negative attitude to a more positive attitude.
Controlling my energy, I may have learned this later in life but I definitely have been more aware and intentional about how I use my daily energy.
I hope you enjoyed this read and look forward to connecting with you soon. As always #PositveParentingONLY

It definitely takes a lot to balance work and motherhood. The key to balancing is consistency, structure and routines. Those things go hand in hand when you’re a parent. This was a great read and I look forward to reading more.

Balancing life work and parenting is a job within itself. Pretty much I just take things day by day and plan accordingly. That little thing called “Me time” no longer exists in my life. With the kids on remote learning I no longer have time to even run errands(with the kids). It’s all work no play in my household.
